Pedant.

Saw a friend tagged in stranger's Facebook post about a gathering they had. Fine. But the caption read "revendous" instead of what clearly was meant to be "rendezvous", that's NOT fine. Who, beyond the age of 8 says "revendous" anyway? It was a post from yesterday, and I'm still fussing in my head whether or not to point that out. Feels as though my entire being is ravaged with unease from this very trivial(?) matter.

*SHUDDERS at every thought of "REVENDOUS"*

Ever met people who cannot handle their spelling/vocabulary yet try their very best to make language breakthroughs? Sometimes I must plead with the general population to stay away from complexity if they're incapable of handling it. It's alright if it was meant to be a clever play of words, but an utter fail like the one above simply serves to negate any remnants of positive impression no matter how dignified the attached photograph may appear.

Can't resist the temptation of using complex words? http://dictionary.reference.com/ is 5 seconds away from uncertainty. Thesaurus is available to up the ante. If they can afford the time to upload a bunch of inconsequential selfies at 3am, surely they can look up words in the dictionary which would likely prove beneficial on a less temporal basis than Facebook 'likes'.

The woes of a pedant.
