Hope, for MH370

It's the 4th day into the disappearance of MH370.

This brief thought occurred to me:
I deny religiosity and the divine, but in the face of this chilling incident, while looking at the list of missing crew and passengers, I can't help finding myself turning towards the (likely futile) act of praying. I am not sure what I shall recite, or to whom I shall address my little speech, for the well-being of all those on board that fateful flight. Rationally I know that my puny act of praying wouldn't make a difference to the aircraft and these people - wherever they may be. Yet, the temptation to seek some sort of psychological bulwark and harbor some hope for their safe return is too attractive to resist. I despise myself for that, but at least now I know where all the prayers are stemming from - no matter what they might or might not yield. For as Andy Dufresne once said, hope is essential. It is possibly the only thing that we ever live for.

For that, pray for MH370 whatever you may chant.
